Reason why i wanted to create a blog about weight training while pregnant…

When I found out I was pregnant I was so excited! But the excitement soon turned into nervousness. 3 years ago I turned my life around from being a stay on the couch mom to running a half marathon and being able able to lift more than my weight! In the process I went from 235 pounds to my lowest weight  of 139. How did I get so heavy and let myself go? you may ask. Well when I became an adult I ate crappy and never exercised. When I gained weight I’d start walking and cutting back portions or go on a extreme diet. Sure I’d lose weight but it always found me. When I got pregnant with twins in 2008 and another child in 2010 I’d just give up and never even tried controlling my weight or health. After the last one was when I made the changes I needed. No dieting just clean eating. And running and weight training 5 days a week. It’s now a lifestyle that I need to continue for life if I want to remain healthy. So now that I discovered I am pregnant I’m freaking out cause I do not want to gain 100 lb! ( My heaviest weight pregnant with my last was 260!). And I’m discovering that I feel like a fitness newbie because my body is changing and I’m not sure what is safe for baby and me.

So I decided to educate myself. I bought two books from Amazon for Active Pregnancies. What a joke! Great advice if you have never exercised or your an ultramarathoner.( Gave examples of women cutting back to running only 70 miles a week! Ha, I don’t run that in a month! And telling the reader not to lift more than 5 lb weights, My kids weigh 40 plus and I still pick them up!). There were some good guidelines, health advice etc that I did get something out of, but nothing for an avid weight enthusiast such as myself. So, now I went to the web. Still never found what I was looking for. So decided (with my doctors blessing) to just continue my fitness regime the same as always in my first trimester. And I’m writing this blog to document my journey to a healthy pregnancy and hopefully easy delivery, and most important, healthy baby.
